You'd be better off checking with EVB support as it absolutely sounds like an issue with their software. ![]() The only way around this is to become proficient in Javascript, then re-write the save function so that it no longer saves to \saves\ but instead to \%userprofile%\documents\ or wherever.Įnigma would then work, keeping the game as a single executable and allowing saves. Enigma Virtual Box does not extract the virtualized files to the disk and does not create any temporary files on the user's computer That alone might be the problem. Since it's not an instanced unchanging view, but "live" files, saving works as it should. They were able to create saves just fine, but attempting to load saves either didn't work. However, a few times people have told me that they were unable to load saves they'd made. So they then have a folder called and inside there is game.exe or whatever, and the dozens (if not hundreds or thousands) of files needed to run the game. I recently submitted a game to a game jam, and I used Enigma Virtual Box to make this game into one executable file. exe and it unpacks, creating all of the files needed to play the game. What it does is allow you to distribute the game as one file that requires almost zero knowledge from the end user. The self-extracting executable does not give you the ability to save the game while remaining one file. It does not, which is good because you don't want people interjecting malicious code after the fact. In order to save, it would need to have write permission to itself. i'll take the hint. What Enigma does is take all of the files in a series of folders, then builds an unchanging version of them. i've sunk enough time into even attempting to get the thing. i don't want to spend 15 minutes again, and cutting that in half by downloading only the windows version still means 7 minutes of waiting.Īs for the usb option, even when just the windows version is compressed, it's 227 megabytes, and i dont know about usb transfer rates but i assume it's not that great.Īnd at this point, i just don't want to play this thing anymore. Now i have to either take the extra steps of installing wine, a thing that runs windows apps on linux (and if you know anything about wine, that's not just one extra step, but a lot depending on how much it wants to torture you), or somehow get it onto my windows computer, either by downloading it again or putting it on my usb. Follow the direct download link and instructions below for guidance on installing RPG in a Box v1.0.6.5 on your computer. there's nothing in the thread stating it's mac and windows only, and i feel like a fool for assuming that i could run it on linux. i think a good start would be separating the mac and windows versions into their own files?Īnd only then do i find out that there's no linux version. it's a touch annoying, and i wish it could be smaller and take less time to download. Then, the entire zip file is 500 megabytes. instead of pasting a bunch of gibberish into a chatbox, now you paste a random name into the chatbox. what's wrong with pasting !UMRF1Q5J!IxbYsfiDPUBPM6SzRPFzg2Y2S75noQubBtuVUnsPaRg? you put the link behind some text like this anyways! it's not like it changes how people get the link, they're still going to get the link from someone else copy-pasting it, e.g. ![]() ![]() i know it might feel a bit esoteric, but you really shouldn't use link shorteners, something something not good for archivability, higher chance of link rot, etc. Dwaze herder facebook login, Tere ch tera yaar bolda remix maker.
